Exhibitions
Solo exhibition «Weaving the Ocean: Ari Bayuaji», Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore, July 6 - August 28 2022Indonesian artist Ari Bayuaji's "Weaving the Ocean" project was a unique project that blended ideas of sustainable art practices and community engagement that extended beyond Bali, building upon its successful reception in locations like Taipei and Bangkok before Singapore. It honoured the traditional weaving skills of Balinese artisans by transforming repurposed materials, such as discarded fishing ropes found from the shores of Bali into textiles and sculptural installations; breathing new life into found objects in creating a visual rhythm of rediscovery of island living. The artist conducted workshops with NAFA’s students based on the exhibition, using his experiences as a starting point of discussion, conversations about environmental issues, cultural preservation and ideas that would positively impact communities were explored. https://iseaa.nafa.edu.sg/workshops-and-events/past-exhibitions/weaving-ocean-ari-bayuaji
