[Le français suit] "KK depicts a portrait of Tuy Sobil, founder of Tiny Toones, in reference to the deportation of Cambodian refugees from the United States, sometimes for minor offenses committed in their youth. The work explores the human consequences of exile, the trajectories destabilized by migration policies, and the possible forms of rebuilding despite rupture." - BB
Bryan Beyung is a visual artist based in Montreal. Through painting, mural art, and installation, he explores themes of identity, memory, and transmission related to the diasporic experience. His practice engages with impermanence, cultural transformation, and the tensions between tradition and modernity. Influenced by photography, graphic design, and urban culture, he develops visual narratives where personal memory and collective history intersect. His work has been presented in galleries, festivals, and residencies across Canada and internationally. His murals can be found in public spaces in various cities around the world. In part of MU’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, he is currently collaborating with James Lee Chiahan on a large-scale mural honoring Frédéric Back.

« KK représente le portrait de Tuy Sobil, fondateur de Tiny Toones, en écho aux déportations de réfugiés cambodgiens des États-Unis, parfois pour des délits mineurs commis dans leur jeunesse. L’œuvre s’intéresse aux conséquences humaines de l’exil, aux trajectoires fragilisées par les politiques migratoires et aux formes de reconstruction possibles malgré la rupture. » - BB
