-

These three images from the Contemporary Art Gallery show a gradual shift from a room dedicated to the works of Joseph Beuys to the bath of red light that produces the work of Dan Flavin that can be seen here in the distance in the embrace of a passage.

Designed by the artist in the late 1990s, the Panoscope is a single channel panoramic projection apparatus and a picture taking method adapted to its geometry. Luc Courchesne’s photographic series Journal panoscopique, begun in 2000, presents anamorphic representations of the surrounding space as seen by the optical system he uses. The works call for a form of interactivity, with viewers encouraged to rotate the disc on itself to select one of the multiple views offered by this photographic representation of the entire horizon.
