"This is a silkscreen I realized during a residency at The Banff Centre for the Arts, in 2000.
The image shows a boy crying and his tears are masked and/or accentuated by the raindrops that surrounds him. One of his ears has been wounded. The word Trauma arises from the late 1600s (via Latin) and suggests a physical injury. In the late 1800s, the idea of psychological/emotional wound was further attributed to this word.
Despite his state of being, the child remains stoic. With his eyes wide open, he bears witness to the events he experiences."- Ed Pien (courriel 14/10/2020)
