Daikon
By the time I noticed this last piece of Daikon at the refrigerator, I had forgotten how long it had been carefully kept there. Its taste was once refreshing, and I didn’t want to eat it unless it was for a special occasion. The tip of the root extended far away as if a search had never ended. The search of water, the search of contact, the search of its possibility of survival, and the search of hope. This last piece of Daikon becomes a statue, a monument which waves its hand at time and future, and which demonstrates a prolonged uncertainty between death and revival. A still life.

Daikon
