[English follows] Des bouteilles de plastique rejetées par la voie maritime du Saint-Laurent furent l’inspiration originale des Marines de Jérôme Fortin. L’artiste découpe des bouteilles en plastique en bandes de couleurs ondoyantes et les refaçonne en paysages marins montés au mur. Ainsi, redonne-t-il symboliquement à la mer.

Plastic bottles washing up along the St. Lawrence Seaway were the original inspiration for Jérôme Fortin’s Marines. The artist cuts plastic bottles into undulating strips of colour and reshapes them into wall-mounted seascapes. In this way, Fortin symbolically gives back to the sea.
