[Le français suit] For this series, Ludovic Boney uses rocks collected in Sept-Îles, near Pointe-Blanche and the Moisie River. These areas are known for their rich biodiversity, and the colours evoke a floral palette inspired by the local flora. By combining natural and transformed materials, the sculptures poetically bring nature into everyday life. The bright colours and smooth finish of the aluminium contrast with the rough texture of the stone, highlighting its complexity and unique beauty.
Ludovic Boney was born in Wendake and lives and works in Lévis, Québec. He works on large-scale public art projects and shows his work regularly in galleries and artist centres throughout Quebec. His public art integration projects include works in Quebec City for the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée de la civilisation, and City Hall. Among his notable public art projects are Des perles en mémoire, unveiled by the National Battlefields Commission on the occasion of the 2024 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and, in Toronto, his sculpture In Equilibrium, installed at the Anishnawbe Indigenous Hub. Ludovic regularly participates in renowned events such as the Bonavista Biennale, the Contemporary Native Art Biennale and the Manif d'art de Québec. The Huron-Wendat Museum presented his first museum solo exhibition entitled "Mémoires ennoyées" in 2022. His work is part of the collection of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée de la civilization, the Musée McCord Stewart and the Musée de la Côte-Nord as well of public and corporate collections including the RBC Art Collection, Sobey, Champion Iron, Telus Communications Inc. and Ville de Laval. Nominated for the long list of the Sobey Award in 2017, he is also the recipient of the Reveal grant offered by the Hnatyshyn Foundation.
