_____

"Montreal-based artist Dil Hildebrand's new series of works draws from his longstanding exploration of painting, returning to themes of landscape and theatrical settings. His pieces, including large-scale paintings and woodblock relief prints, blend abstract and representational imagery, creating architectural motifs like passageways, screens, and windows that open onto vast horizons. Influenced by traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking (Ukiyo-e) and masters such as Hokusai and Hiroshige, the works combine natural and architectural forms, encouraging viewers to imagine stepping into the scenes. Through scale, surface qualities, and visual cues, the series invites an active engagement with the artwork, echoing the viewer's presence." -
