"To keep track of fleeting moments, I maintain a parallel practise of photography, to both engage with and record what is always, already present between myself and the visual world. A key factor in both my studio work and the recording of it is a certain slowness — in the process of making it as much as in the way it is received. To this end I have favoured natural light, because of its continual, unremarked reminder that we live on a planet rotating in space, and our tiny existence in face of that magnitude. When daylight changes the appearance of things from moment to moment, sometimes to the point of erasure in the course of a day, we feel the loss as a momentary twinge of dismay; the return of a sun spot brings an inchoate pleasure. These barely perceptible emotions are where we live — body, feeling, mind, consciousness all intertwined with something incomprehensible, but ever present. The intuition that goes along with knowing this propels me along this path where the imagination and the tactile meet." - Karilee Fuglem
_____________
- Karilee Fuglem
