ROOM #223

Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain is pleased to return as an exhibitor for the fifth consecutive year during Art Basel Miami Beach week. This year, the gallery will be exhibiting a group show of works at AQUA Art Miami.

Running simultaneously with Art Basel Miami Beach, from December 1-5 the Aqua Hotel in the heart of South Beach will be transformed into a hub for innovative contemporary art programming, represented by the 43 galleries exhibiting there this year. After a break in 2009, during which the fair focused on its Wynwood location, this return to the original hotel venue where the fair first began in 2005 is welcomed by many.

Over the years, Aqua has made it their mission to promote progressive galleries with strong emerging artist programs from the West Coast, as well as from the greater United States and abroad. The surroundings have become a favorite gathering spot not only for relaxation during the busy Art Basel week, but also as a place to exchange and disseminate new contemporary art ideas. And with its close proximity to the main Art Basel fair, Aqua Art Miami has consistently been ranked among the top satellite art events by collectors, artists, curators, critics and the art loving public alike.

This will be the first time the gallery has participated in AQUA, having exhibited among others in Photo Miami (2007 & 2008) and PULSE Miami (2009). While in past fairs the gallery has used solo presentations, for AQUA 2010, we will highlight signature works by seven gallery artists: Luc Courchesne, Adad Hannah, Dil Hildebrand, Maskull Lasserre, John Latour, Ed Pien, and Chih-Chien Wang. In homage to the hotel fair format and its laid-back, informal atmosphere, the gallery will focus on key smaller-scale works in each artist's practice, from the carved coat-hangers of Maskull Lasserre's Migration, to the new iPad version of Luc Courchesne's Bords de mer video series.

The gallery would like to thank the Canada Council and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles for
