DIL HILDEBRAND: Back to the Drawing Board (Reprise)
Dil Hildebrand's spatial set pieces have given way to flatness in an exhibition of paintings at Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain this spring. Back to the Drawing Board (Reprise) combines a selection of works from Hildebrand's 2011 Toronto exhibition of the same name with a series of new work. Based on the motif of the chalkboard, these new paintings take a material approach to abstraction and geometric forms. A set of large paintings inspired by architectural drawing give rise to odd, implausible structures.
